Five Minute Friday - Welcome

It is five-minute Friday again today, my favorite time of the week.  I hope you decide to take five minutes with me and just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. Here’s how we do it:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat with no editing, tweaking or self critiquing.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in
3. Go and tell the person who linked up before you what their words meant to you. Every writer longs to feel heard.
It’s a great way to exhale at the end of a beautiful week.
The prompt for this week is simply:

WELCOME

Start

Definition: Received with gladness

Oh how I love that definition!  I think of my children who are grown now.  Who have all left my house and started their own.  I think of the moments when they return to my nest, my surroundings and are welcomed in like so many valued treasures.  I think of the meshing together, of adults and children sitting, laughing, and talking together.  Enjoying shared memories and ideas, seeing the differences, celebrating the successes and holding on to the joys that is our lives.  Welcomed reminds me of the feelings that I have whenever I am with family.  I hold it tight to my heart and savor the moment and the feelings that come from going apart and coming back together again.  Holding on to all the things that are most important of all.  Sharing squishy hugs and sticky kisses.  I recieve with gladness all the reminders of love and worth.  My heart sings with joy as I watch the generations grow and change, like the waves upon the beach, rushing out and than rushing back.  Sharing the sun and the sand.  Holding tight to the memory of all the befores and waiting in anticipation for all that the future holds.
Sharing the joy with my family also reminds me of what it means to be welcomed into the heart of the fold.  To know others so well, that their thoughts are my own.  That their hearts beat with mine.  To realize that families are forever, that this is not the end, and that love is the one thing that will always endure.  It reminds me of the joy that awaits when I am welcomed into His arms, safe and sound, and finally, home at last.

STOP

Now it is your turn.  What can you write in five minutes?

  3. Beautiful thoughts and writing! I get sad when I think of my children moving on and leaving me when they get a little older, but you make it sound like it's own kind of wonderful. :)
