When faced with life's challenges,
it is Important to Remember
that although Daniel was saved from the lions,
he was not saved from the Lion's Den.

I am a crooked line

I am Linking up for two things today.  The first is for this poetry challenge at Danabugseyeview for the poetry bus.  There are no rules except that it has to start with this phrase:  I am a crooked line.
The second is for the Bigger Picture Moments over at Alita's Place
Spend a few moments visiting others as they also write.  I Hope you like it.

I Am A Crooked Line
by Patricia A Pitterle

I am a crooked line,
Wondering across the pages of life
To and fro,
From side to side.
I want to go from here to there
In a straight line,
But that does not seem possible
For me.
My way
Weaves along the light.
I can see the path;
It beckons me,
But when I try to walk it
Something always seems
To get in my way.
I wonder off into the wilderness
Of life
Until I see the light again.
I warms my heart
and beckons my soul.
Until, once again
I work myself
Back to the narrow way.
I am a crooked path
And that is OK
Because He knew that I would wonder,
He knew what I would be.
And yet,
He still loves me.
He straightens the path behind me,
And lights the way before.
Until, finially,
I see my path
Becoming not quite
As crooked as before.

  1. Patty Ann, I'm right there with you! I am a crooked line, a crooked path, too. But, alas, not quite as crooked as before. Thanks for sharing this heartfelt piece with us today!

  2. This is so delightful, and I agree. I am a crooked line, but not as crooked as before. He makes a path worth traveling.

  6. ... "wondering across the pages of life" and "I wonder off into the wilderness". Just LOVE those lines. I love the "Poetry Bus", "Magpie Tales" and "One Stop Poetry". You might want to check those places out too - they are on my blog. :) I am so excited you are venturing into poetry. The one you wrote about your children (above) could EASILY be put in poetic form!

  7. You have a wonderful way with words that combine with your faith and love to make beautiful writing (poetry and prose).
Sorry I didn't get to call you still! I have a long list of things I'd really like to do if I can just catch up with a few gotta do things. I really hope you and your family are doing well.

  8. I love this poem! I love the image of Him straightening out the path I've walked, making it count for something, and lighting the way before...

    Lovely post, Patty :)

  9. What a beautiful gift for words you have! Yes, a crooked line and path I seem to be on daily. Praising God that He makes my paths straight (when I don't get in the way for Him to do so!) Thank you for sharing this poem on NOBH! You bless so many with your words!
