Sunday Devotional - Charity

The pure love of Christ

I have started this post twice already, but I did not post what I wrote (maybe later this week!).  I woke up this morning and knew that I wanted to write something about charity.  I did a search and found the short video you will see below.  It says exactly what my heart wanted to say.  Today, may we each work just a little bit more in loving those around us.

Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun who worked among the poor in India most of her life, spoke this wonderful and profound truth: “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.” The Savior has also admonished us, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”

President Monson said: "There is a serious need for the charity that gives attention to those who are unnoticed, hope to those who are discouraged, aid to those who are afflicted. True charity is love in action. The need for charity is everywhere".

  1. Thank you. Several days ago, I made a comment on a blog which comment included among other things a reference to Mother Teresa and was apparently censored for it. (I had simply mentioned how she did the best she could with what she had and relied on God to provide the rest.) So your public mention of Mother Teresa and your further mention of her as being a Catholic while you yourself are Mormon, is a heartening day-brightener to me. Thanks again!

  2. I would hope that each of us would consider it an honor and a privilege to quote good women, no matter what religion they belong to. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Mother Therese who braved great personal hardships to nurture and care for others. I love her many quotes of wisdom. I am glad that you also enjoy them.

  3. Love this and so agree with you. My husband always tells me to look for the one person in the room who looks uncomfortable or alone and talk with them. Those who do that consistently are truly blessed.
