Five Minute Friday - Rest

We write for five minutes flat on Fridays.

We write bold and beautiful and free. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.
It is the way I find words that I never knew I had.  It is something that I love to do. It is freedom in an amazing way.

Won’t you share your five minutes of words too?

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here with The Gypsy Mama and invite others to join in.
3. Go a little overboard encouraging the writer who linked up before you.

OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on:

Rest…

START

Exodus 33:14
And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

I was so busy yesterday!  First, I worked all day at my "normal" job, than I was out most of the night with the fire department on the ambulance.  I kept thinking about the prompt for today being rest.  I kept thinking about how nice it would be to finally get some!
Sometimes, rest can seem so elusive for me.  We live in such a busy, hectic world.  A world where we are encouraged to fulfill our every whim.  A world where we are busy from one moment to the next and from one thing to another.  Yet rest, is something that we each need if we are going to be physically and spiritually healthy.
When I think of the scripture in Exodus, I am reminded that true rest is a gift from God.  I am reminded that, no matter what my burdens, He will bear my trials with me.  He will walk with me.  He will carry me.  HE will give me rest.
I think that spiritual rest is the same as saying that I will be free from doubt and fear.  His grace will give me freedom from my mistakes, freedom from my pain, freedom from the burdens that surround me.  Not that those trials won't still be part of my life, but in Him, I will find peace in the midst of them.  I will find my rest in the presence of His love.

STOP

Now it is your turn.  Where will you find your rest?  Write for five minutes and than go to The Gypsy Mama's and link up.  Hope to see you there!
